Best Dolphin Tours in Myrtle Beach: What to Expect on the Water
If you’re looking for one of the most fun and relaxing things to do in Myrtle Beach, a dolphin cruise should be at the top of your list. There’s nothing like being out on the water, taking in the views, and spotting wild dolphins swimming, playing, and popping up around the boat.
At Uncharted Waters, our Island & Dolphin Cruise gives guests the chance to explore the waterway, travel out into the Atlantic Ocean, and stop at a local island along the way. Whether you’re visiting with friends, planning a family day, or just want to get out and do something different, this is a great way to spend time on the water, and see dolphins in their natural habitat.
What to Expect on the 2-Hour Dolphin Cruise
Not sure what a dolphin cruise is really like? Here’s a quick breakdown of what you’ll see and do on board with us:
- Cruising through Little River: You’ll start the trip on the Intracoastal Waterway and pass through one of the oldest fishing villages in the area. Look out for shrimp boats, waterfront restaurants, and the occasional local waving from their dock. The crew usually throws in a few fun facts or stories along the way.
- Music, views, and good energy: There’s always a laid-back playlist going, and the crew keeps the vibe fun and relaxed. You can hang out on the lower deck or head upstairs to catch the breeze and snap some great photos.
- Wildlife spotting on the way out: Besides dolphins, you might see jellyfish, turtles, local birds, and even a shark if you’re lucky. (And no, you don’t have to get in the water.) The crew helps point things out so you don’t miss a thing.
- The dolphin zone: Once we hit the ocean, the real search begins. We’ll ride along the coast from Ocean Isle to Myrtle Beach keeping an eye out for wild bottlenose dolphins swimming nearby. They don’t always follow a schedule, but when they show up, it’s worth it.
- A stop at a local island: Halfway through the cruise, we pull up to either Bird Island or Waities Island. These barrier islands are undeveloped, peaceful, and full of cool finds like seashells, tidepools, and sometimes even starfish or blue crabs.
- Local tips and fun facts: The crew isn’t reading from a script. Most of them are locals who know these waters well and always have a few good stories to share about the area, the wildlife, or what life is like around here.
This cruise is all about kicking back, enjoying the ride, and seeing a side of the Grand Strand that you just can’t get from the shore.
